How big to cages need to be for lizards?

fe Cage should be as tall as the iguana is long(including tail), and its footprint should be at least the total lengtth of the animal by half its total length. S a 6ft(1.8 m) iguana could live in a 6x6x3 ft enclosure.

The final enclosure for your Iguana should be somewhere between two to three times the length of your Iguana. Some apartments and houses can't accomodate this type of enclosure so many times people give their Iguana an entire closet or bedroom. If your Iguana is going to be housed in an enclosure, it should be minimum 5-6 feet tall.

For an Iguana you need a pretty large cage, because they are large animals. A 50 gallon tank may work for the first year and a half but after that you will need to upgrade an Iguana will keep growing in a cage until it cannot move, therefore it is very cruek to keep it in a tank. Recently, my Iguana Rex, had grown to big for her cage , she could still move, but it was to the point she needed a new one. My family and I built a 2 foot wide, four fool long 6 foot tall cage. It is made out of wood.
