PVC/Cast Iron/Steel/Plastic/ Depends on what type
how do i cut cast iron
Yes, you would have to use 2 different types of hole saws. 1. Diamond Sintered hole saw to get through the porcelain to stop it from chipping. 2. Aluminium hole saw to get through the cast iron. Goodluck!
Cut out the old piping and caulk a new cast iron bell and spigot with lead and oakum and test
depends on the size of drain piping. Most toilet either have a 3" or 4" drain. The size hole needed would be larger than the outside diameter of the piping. 3" pipe=4" hole / 4" pipe=5" hole
All you will need to cut out is the hole for the drain, probably 5 inch circle. The ceiling below and how you route the drain is always different.
Very carefully drill a hole by each end of the split then gently grind a "V" shape in the split and then use a Cast Iron welding rod AFTER pre heating the base mental and allow to cool naturally as not to thermo-shock the metal
yes you can do it but you have to use a cast iron cutter, or cicular saw with a carbon friccion to cut arround the pipe. But if the cast iron pipe in in the ground and it's not muveble,, it may break.. so you have to be carefull and when you finish cutting it you put a piace of ABS pipe 1/2 shorter in each side. In order to incert the hob conectors..
Downstairs? First floor with a basement or in the basement? If first floor with access in the basement or crawlspace, no real problem. PVC, just cut the pipe and install a T. Cast iron, you can use a Saddle Clamp made for this. Looks like a PVC T split length wise and held to the cast iron with two U bolts. If adding a bath in the basement, you will have to bust out the floor, add the drain and replace the cement.
do what I'm about to do: take some of those iron-on patches. Turn your sweater inside-out. Cut a small piece of iron-on stuff, and with heat on very low, iron over the hole. It will keep the hole from ripping and if the hole is small, no one will ever see it.
Washing machine drains into a floor drain? The drain need cleaning. Liquid drain cleaner may do it, or it may need to be snaked. Simple fix is to get a 30 gallon trash can, cut a small hole in the bottom, the size of a quarter and set it over the drain. Let the washer drain into that. The small hole will let the water drain at a rate that the floor drain can handle it.
You remove the existing tub shoe and related fittings and install a new assembly. In some cases a reciprocating saw will be needed to cut the shoe flange located inside the tub
