Do genes only affect a person's height?

In the scientific way, your genes are given to you, half by your mom, and half by your dad. Your genes are also made up off of parents of your parents and many more. If your parents were given the tall gene by their parents, they could have gotten that from even more parents. Your genes basically come from the lower and higher parts of your family tree. So you could be given the tall gene. It does effect your height, putting simpler

If a plant has homozygous tall genes what kimd of genes does the plant have?

If a plant is homozygous tall then it would possess two tall genes instead of a short gene. If for the notation you use B to represent the dominant tall gene and b to represent the recessive short gene the plant would carry and "BB" compliment of genes.

How does the environment cause variations in organisms?

Our genes decide what characteristics we inherit, but the environment can affect how these inherited characteristics develop, like a person could be tall but in their childhood have a poor diet which cause poor growth.

What does a capital letter such as T represent ina punnet square?

Capital letters on Punnett Squares represent dominant genes, while lowercase letters represent recessive genes. For example, if the trait "T" is a tall gene and the trait "t" is a short gene. When you get your results (if both parents are heterozygous for tallness, Tt) you get four possible results, 1 TT (homozygous tall), 2 Tt (twice, heterozygous tall Tt), and 1 tt (homozygous short). If there is a dominant gene there, that gene will be displayed. Only if there are two recessive genes will the recessive trait be displayed.

Do genes determine your height?

I think that it both matters. depends. if you live in post-explosion chernobyl than the environment would likely affect your height more. but if you lived in an average (enviromentally) place than genes would. Both do play roughly equal roles, the only studies that really show this are very small as identical twins that have been sperated at birth, which are of course not very common at all. These twins studies show a significant difference in the heights of the subjects suggesting a nenvironmental effect (as their genes are exactly the same and only the upbringing was different). On the other side of the coin paired group studies where people who have lived as similar as possible lives (ideally adoptees and their adopted siblings) are compared heights can still vairy dramatically suggesting that genetis also plays a role. Yes and genetics doesn't only mean both parents, but also grand parents, great grand parents, and so on.

How both gene and the environment determine how tall a person will be?

A persons' genes do determine height but the environment also does. Many people without enough food as a child will not be as tall as their genes saw that they should be.

Was Yvette born tall or is it in her genes?

its both dude...

Why is cristianoronaldo so tall?

Cristian Ronaldo is '6,1'. He is so tall because of the genes he was born with. Nobody can choose how tall they want to be, genetics determines a persons height.

What continuous variation?

Continuous Variations are the characteristics of a person or animal. These characteristics are based on the genes given from your parents. Such as height, if your parents are both tall it is certain that the tall gene will be passed down to you from both parents.

Why a tall mother and a tall father do not necessarily produce a tall baby?

The genes in the tall mother and father do not necessarily match. One of the genes may be faulty, and might not be "compatible" with the other genes, making both go different.

Genes carry the information that determines what?

Genes determine what gender you are, what hair color you have, what eye color, how tall you are... For more infornmation on how genes were discovered Google Gregor Mendel.

If a tall round seed plant is crossed with another tall round seed plant Tall dominant and both heterozygous?

The possible phenotypes are tall and round, tall and oval, short and round, and short and oval. Genes don't affect other genes during reproduction.

What determins phenotype?

the genotypeThe genotype (genes) of an organism determines its phenotype (what it looks and acts like). The phenotype can also be slightly influenced by the organism's environment. For example, if a human inherits genes to be taller than average, but has poor nutrition as a child, he won't be as tall as his genes had coded.

How do genes and chromosomes effect your development?

Chromosomes are genes you get from your parents. They affect your physical features and how you grow. Like if your parents were both short, you would get chromosomes deciding if you get their dominate gene (short) or both recessive genes (tall). You have 42 chromosomes when you are born (21 from each parent)

What combinations of genes could tall pea plants have?

two tall genes or one tall gene and one short gene

Can you be taller than your mother and father?

Yes. Any number of reasons might have caused your parents to grow less tall than they might have; nutrition or environmental factors, for example. or your parents might have had a mix of genes for tall and short, and you got the "tall" genes from both your mother and father.
