Best Answer

Some people believe that ESP (extrasensory perception) can impact individuals by allowing them to perceive information through means other than the typical five senses. This can manifest as intuition, precognition, telepathy, or psychic abilities. However, the scientific community generally considers ESP to be a pseudoscience and lacks empirical evidence to support its existence.

What position should a beginning student of psychology take with regard to ESP?

A beginning student of psychology should approach ESP (extrasensory perception) with skepticism, as it lacks empirical evidence and does not adhere to scientific principles. It is important to rely on research-based evidence and critical thinking when evaluating claims related to ESP.

Presentation about esp and you need some some famous people who have espextra sensory perception?

Some famous people who have been associated with ESP or claimed to have psychic abilities include Uri Geller, Edgar Cayce, and Ingo Swann. Their reported abilities have been the subject of scrutiny and skepticism, but they have gained significant attention in the field of parapsychology.

Is the extra sensory perception considered a legitimate scientific undertaking?

While some people believe in extra sensory perception (ESP), most scientists consider it to be pseudoscience due to lack of empirical evidence supporting its existence. Scientific studies have not been able to reliably demonstrate the existence of ESP through rigorous experimentation.

What are the symptoms of extrasensory perception?

I'll assume you mean qualities of extrasensory perception or ESP as they used to call it. This was a term that was used by parapsychologists to describe an ability that people appear to have that can not be explained by traditional materialistic thinking and involves an ability to perceive things that cannot be perceived by the so called normal senses of sight, touch, hearing, smell or feeling. Everyone has this ability to some degree but some much more than others. The qualities that people with strong ESP have would be feelings of something going to happen and then it does. Having dreams that sometimes come true. Also people with strong ESP often have stronger more vivid dreams and remember them better. Some can interact with their dreams to some degree. Seeing things that others don't and hearing things that others can't. These people usually have much more of an interest in paranormal things as well. They often have strong creative abilities, this is because they have the ability to receive information from elsewhere. Because of this they can sometimes be considered geniuses and I believe many of the worlds geniuses did have strong ESP! Actually the root of the word genius means someone who receives information from spirits People like this often feel different and sometimes have trouble fitting in with others. Some would say these people are just crazy. Well some are but if the things they see and hear seem to ring true then the person is not so crazy now are they. Their abilities and interests can cause them problems with other people especially if they come from a strict religious background. They may think they are crazy or even become crazy if everyone keeps telling them they are. If the problems associated with a strong ESP ability can be overcome these people can find that they are gifted and have a better chance of being successful in anything they want to do.

Do psychologist believe in ESP?

The belief in extrasensory perception (ESP) is not supported by empirical evidence and is not accepted within mainstream psychology. Psychologists focus on studying phenomena that can be tested, measured, and observed through scientific methods rather than those that lack scientific basis.
