Front loading washers vibrate more than top loaders because they spin faster. If leveled correctly on a firm surface, however, the vibration should not be excessive.
To give a larger surface area, increasing the strength of the hold
yes
You place them on a small scale (possibly that also weighs food)
unless the washers were strapped to the car, they would come flying off at the same speed the car was moving. This sounds like a demonstration of what happens to a person in a collision with no seat belt.
Had similar problem. Took it back twice to same mechanic still vibrating. Took it to another mechanic and he found that the old uni joints were still in place. The first mechanic from salisbury adelaide, welded washers in where circlips were meant to be. All had washers welded. New mechanic replaced tailshaft with seconhandy and did job properly, It is better than new now.
This can be caused by the washers that hold the engine are loose or worn down, causing extra vibration when the car is running. Not too expensive to fix but involves taking the engine out and replacing the springs on the washers.
Flat steel washers, galvanised washers, ripple washers, spring washers, fibre locking washers.
You can't without extensive modifications, adding counter balancers, etc. The cheapest way is to isolate the vibration by mounting the engine on rubber bushings. Place the bushings between the engine and the and the mounting surface - like big rubber washers.
No idea but I have the same problem with mine !
Yes, washers can rust. I have seen many rusty washers.

This is a particular problem for all front load washers, not just the Whirlpool duet. Due to the high RPM that front loaders spin, they can build up a resonant vibration with the house depending on the surface that they're placed. Vibrations will be less pronounced if the flooring is concrete or tile, but much more pronounced if the flooring is wood. Worse case vibration occur for installations in mobile homes, or on second floors of houses. There are many solutions for this problem, some of them extremely simple and inexpensive, yet very effective. Please see the related links below.
Mold and water leaking can be a problem with front load washers. They may also not be as energy efficient as they claim. They tend to be more expensive than other washer and dryer pairs.
Flat washers. Spring washers. Rubber gasket. Felt washers. Asbestos gaskets.

Horn relay, or switch. Actually, I just got done fixing exactly this problem on my son's 1996 stratus. The problem was that the little rubber washers that separate the horn switch from the rest of the steering wheel had rotted away such that the circuit for the horn was completing intermittently. I fixed it by replacing the rubber washers with some makeshift ones from my plumbing kit. I suppose it would be better to get the correct washers from a parts store. Hope this helps someone else with the same problem....
