Word has some capability to do graphics, so you could use it for that, though there are better applications for doing that. An art class could involve many things, like writing about what you have created, so Word could be used for that. You could also copy and paste things for another application into Word and write about it. If you have a lot of studying to do, you may need to take notes and these could be typed up in Word. So while it is not the best for actual art, there are other ways it could be useful in an art class.
