There are many different control options for the 3DS. Whether or not a game can be played in more than one way depends on the game itself.
The 3DS' buttons are how you'll be playing most of your games. In addition to the D-pad, A B X Y face buttons and L and R shoulder buttons, the system also has what is called a "circle pad" that acts as an analog slidepad.
