WordWeb interprets Priest to mean "A clergyman in Christian churches who has the authority to perform or administer various religious rites; one of the Holy Orders". However to this writer his responsibilities go much further. He is the father of his flock, so has the responsibility to look after their welfare with the aid of those whome he sees fit to call to assist him. He teaches correct principles as he is guided by the Holy Spirit and not that which is taught by man, unless it is the truth. He can divide his members into various age groups so that each group will receive teachings that they understand. Most Priests teach that which is only understood by adults, so that the younger age groups are left out to flounder when trying to understand gospel principles. It is unfortunate that many Priests do not fully understand their responsibilities.

What rules priests have to follow?

In the Christian Church the role of a priest has several aspects: Sacramental: - priests offer sacraments (such as baptism and holy communion/mass) and act as a mediator between God and humanity in offering God's forgiveness of sins, and God's blessings upon us. Pastoral: they are required to serve others pastorally both pragmatically and practically as well as spiritually. Teaching and preaching: They are required to study scripture and proclaim the love of God to others by preaching God's word and teaching others about thatLove of God in Jesus Christ. In service: The priest is expected to carry out services in his/her church and to offer spiritually uplifiting experiences for the committed Christian and for those who are still searching Holiness: A priest has to lead by example; in that, the priest has to aspire to be more Christ-like and holy, both as this is God's will and also that, by doing this, he can inspire others to be more Christ-like too. In these roles the priest must therefore follow a rule of life. He or she must be prepared to strive for holiness, to love God, to love and serve others, and to proclaim God's word to others so that they too may learn of God's love for them.
