not the original stock.
So you will know it was manufactured by Winchester Repeating Arms Co.
The age (or date of manufacture) can only be determined by the specific serial number stamped into the lower tang. Winchester manufactured the Model 1890 from November of the year 1890 through December of 1932. Bert H.
Yes. I doubt if Winchester ever produced a firearm without the company name or at least the WRA emblem prominently displayed. Slight correction to my previous answer. Winchester manufactured shotguns and a few rifles for Sears Roebuck and these will not carry the company name or trademark. However, even if produced BY Winchester as an exact copy of a company model, they are NOT Winchesters. The name Winchester is often stamped just to the right of the rear sight. -j. On 1894 and 94 rifles made before WWII, the name WINCHESTER is stamped on the upper stock tang. On post-war guns, it is on the left side of the barrel, below the rear sight.
It will be stamped into the side of the receiver.
The chambering will be stamped right into the barrel.Since it's a 94, it will probably be stamped 30 WCF (Winchester Center Fire) which today is called 30-30 Winchester
Mine was made in 1909. On the left side of the barrel, between the sight and the strap, it is stamped "Manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms Co." Then below that it says "New Haven Conn. U.S.A. Patented August 21. 1894." Back between the sight and the receiver, on the left side it is stamped "32-40" That is the caliber. Nothing else is on the barrel. Hope this helps you.
The serial number is stamped on the bottom of the receiver.
It means the piece was manufactured in Thailand.
If a Winchester was returned to the factory for repair which required replacement to the frame it was common to remove the ser.no. and replace it with the letters WRACO, Winchester Repeating Arms Co., Also, unauthorized parties re-sold guns not under contract with Winchester, when these guns showed up at the factory it was re stamped with WRACO. Starting about 1905 Winchester's leaving the factory would be stamped on the top of the frame and the top of the barrel at the juncture of the frame & barrel with the letters WP inside an oval. If your gun was manufactured BEFORE 1905 AND has the WRACO stamp over the s/n then in all probability it'll have the WP proof mark too. Regards, Marty
your Winchester model 52 was made in 1926.
Look at the underside of the receiver up by where it meets the wooden fore stock. The number stamped into the metal is the serial number.Go to the web site: "Winchester Database" listed under the heading "Related links" below. If you enter your serial number into the database, it will give you the year the gun was manufactured.
To find the year that any Winchester gun was made, you just need to know which model it is and what the serial number is (the model number and serial number are stamped on the gun itself). . Then go to this website and it will tell you when it was made: http:/oldguns.net/sn_php/winmods.htm After doing a little research....your rifle was manufactured in 1906.....i would love to see a picture of it.
