it might be that the girlfriend and him could have been together for a long time and know each other very well and he might just be a very forgiving guy and wants to give her another chance
this is comin from a guy my girlfriend of over a year broke up with me a couple weeks ago for no reason whatsoever and she acted like a real jerk to me but i still like her even though she broke up with me and acted like a jerk so it most likely is that even though she cheated on him a lot he still has feelings for her and can see past what she did and see who she is on the inside
and also on the topic of him wanting a relationship with you maybe he is emotionally confused and needed someone to be there for him to let him know everything would be OK and maybe he does really like u he just doesn't know what he wants

A little more information would have been nice so I'm going to lamb it. It depends why you and your girlfriend broke up. If she has cheated on you more than once then no way! If this is the first time she's cheated she isn't perfect and neither are you and people make mistakes. If you split because you were always arguing then you are going to have to decide if you love her enough to communicate with her and let her know you don't want a relationship with any girl when it means constant arguments. The balls in your court and only you can decide if you want her back.
