You ask a supervisor of that category the question is in to do it and give good reason.

Can you unlock a question on WikiAnswers?

Answers can only be locked or unlocked by a WikiAnswers Supervisor. Answers are "locked" in cases where an answer has become a debate instead of an answer, or if the answer has been vandalized too many times. If a question has been locked for either of these reasons, it may be unlocked after a time, or may be kept locked if the question continues to be a target for vandalism or debate within the answer.

Why is WikiAnswers so important?

WikiAnswers is important because it is a question and answer website and it answers questions for everyone everywhere. A lot of question and answer websites don't allow you to edit answers but WikiAnswers allows you to edit any answer as many times you want. Once the answer is perfect and percise, the answer may be locked by a supervisor.

How can you remove answers at WikiAnswers?

To remove an answer, you can click on "Improve answer", then delete whatever you do not feel is appropriate to the question asked. If the question is locked, you can ask a Supervisor to remove the answer for you if you still believe that whatever material is contained within it is not appropriate.

How does a question get locked?

If a question has become vandalized or a debate then they will be locked after an appropriate answer has been filled in. Once in awhile if someone has wrote an answer that is very good and it is an answer to the question and it will never change it might be locked, this is to save the hard work of the contributer who posted the answer. But the process of it being locked is done by a supervisor with the click of a button.

Why is your WikiAnswers question locked?

The reason why some Supervisors or CA's may lock your question is because it is prone to spam and vandalism.

Can any user remove a related link added by a contributor?

Yes, unless the question is locked. Then you cannot do anything with the question unless you are a Supervisor.

If you try to answer a question on WikiAnswers but someone else tries to do it t the same time what happens?

I assume that if a question is locked for answering by someone it is not available for another to use it.

Why can you no longer ask to merge questions?

Regular members may certainly ask to have questions merged. They are encouraged to do so when they run across contributions that are asking the same question. This helps the site supervisors to maintain the integrity of WikiAnswers, and keeps regular members involved. To request questions be merged, do the following: 1. Go to one of the questions. 2. Click on Improve Question. 3. Type the question you want it to be merged with. 4. A popup will appear asking if you want to merge the questions. To request 2 locked questions be merged, simply copy the URL's of both questions and paste them into an email to Supervisor @ wikianswers.com (be sure to remove the spaces).

Why does WikiAnswers post their own answers to 'hate jew' questions and then close the post?

WikiAnswers does not tolerate racism or cyberbullying in any way. It is against the terms of use, in which a user agrees to by participating on the site. If such a question, answer or post is found to contain such content it will be removed immediately. If you see such content on site, please report it to a Supervisor. There are several questions which often can often lead to cyberbullying if not answered properly and are culled from numerous different mergers. If you believe that you have a valid answer to add to a specific locked question concerning Anti-Semitism, please send a message to Judaism Supervisor Prioktan918 for consideration.

Is there a way to take bad answers on answers and make it so there is no answer?

Since WikiAnswers is an 'open' forum - any user is welcome to improve an answer that they feel they can provide a better contribution for - unless it's been protected (or locked) against vandalism. A locked question has a yellow padlock on the screen when you view it. If you're not sure about editing an answer - flagging it for improvement will bring it to the attention of us Supervisors. You can also message the supervisor for the question's category and ask their advice.

What does it mean when there is a question with a lock next to it?

It means that the answer cannot be changed by users. If you see something in a locked answer which is wrong, and you would like to have it changed, contact that category's Supervisor.
