Many parents simply wait until the child is asleep or away at a friend or relatives house then bring the horse to the stable the child rides at and place a bow on it and wait for the child to find the horse. Other times you may be able to do a 'treasure hunt' type game with the horse being the 'buried treasure'. Guessing games can be fun for the parents, and of course a traditional version of giving a horse to a child is to give a Birthday or Christmas present consisting of a halter for the horse with a picture attached to it.
