Carbohydrates are a form of energy that your body uses. If you eat too many carbohydrates you could gain weight, become obese, or even develop type 2 Diabetes. If you like foods with lots of carbs be sure to exercise or play a sport.

Carbohydrates affect your body by giving you energy. Carbohydrates are broken down into glucose which enters the bloodstream, giving energy to the cells. Glucose can be stored in the muscles or liver for later use.

carbohydrates are not really bad for your body. They are a source of energy. The thing with carbs is that if you eat them late at night without exercise it will make you fat. It is recommended to eat your carbs the first half of your working day so you can burn them during your day.

They generally are broken down into glucose which is used for energy. Unfortunately, the abuse of carbohydrates (as seen in many western diets) also contributes to the onset of diabetes, heart problems, liver failure, cancer, and a host of conditions to which mankind was not naturally exposed when they were hunters and gatherers. Carbohydrates from agriculture are poisoning human beings on an epidemic scale. Carbohydrates from vegetables, nuts (except peanuts), fruits, and berries are generally good carbohydrates because they are either full of fiber or they are complex carbohydrates that breakdown slowly. Grains, oats, and rice are broken down very easily into simple sugars that, when are not utilized as energy (which is very difficult to achieve for a westerner's sedentary lifestyle), get stored as fat; thus, creating the current dilemma American children are facing.

In short, carbs are very very bad if you're choosing the wrong ones and/or too many of them. Research paleo and ketogenic diets for more information.
