if someone is classically conditioned it means that there experiences in life led them to believe certain things about certain characteristics so to give an example if black people steal because they are poor even though caucasian, Asian and all other racial catagories steal because they are poor but there is an overwelming percentage of black poor families someone may assume that all black people are immoral and steal.

Classical conditioning can help explain prejudice by showing how negative stereotypes or biases become associated with certain groups of people through repeated exposure. For example, if a person consistently hears negative remarks about a specific group, they may start to associate those negative qualities with everyone from that group, leading to prejudiced attitudes. Over time, these negative associations can become automatic and influence the individual's behavior and perception of others.

What did Joseph Wolpe's proposed theory based on classical conditioning explain?

Joseph Wolpe's proposed theory based on classical conditioning, known as systematic desensitization, explained how phobias and anxiety could be treated by gradually exposing individuals to their feared stimuli while teaching them relaxation techniques. This therapy aimed to help individuals replace their learned fear response with a relaxation response, ultimately reducing their fear and anxiety levels.

What are the benefits of classical conditioning?

Classical conditioning helps individuals learn associations between stimuli and responses, shaping behavior. It can help in creating positive habits or eliminating negative ones. This type of conditioning is widely used in therapy to treat phobias, anxiety disorders, and substance abuse.

How do you use classical conditioning to shape behavior of an impulsive child?

If the child is a teen you're not going to be able to shape him into being a good choicemaker. A professional could help. With a younger child, it is easy. You find what he likes, and you remove it from him, or withhold it, when he doesn't perform the desired behavior. Answer People frequently mis-use the term "Classical Conditioning". The contributor above has described some of the basic elements of what is called "Operant Conditioning", and that is probably what you were asking about. You would not want to use Classical Conditioning on a child. I'm not sure that there would even be a way to do it that would give you results that you want. Classical Conditioning involves pairing an "unconditioned response", like salivation when given food, or the iris of the eye getting smaller when expose to stronger light, to a "conditioned stimulus", like the sounding of a bell. Think Pavlov. Repeatedly ring a bell just when you give food to a hungry dog. If you get the timing right, the dog will salivate when you ring the bell.
