Whenever work is being done, energy is changing from form to another, so the shortest answer is "by doing work".

As an example, If you lift a brick from the ground to a shelf, the work you do - muscle energy - is converted to potential energy in the brick. If you then push the brick off the shelf, it crashes to the ground and that potential energy changes to kinetic energy as it falls, and to sound and brick smashing energy when it hits the floor.

Avoid toe breaking energies and don't try this at home.

What kind of energy does a hair dryer use?

Electrical energy enters the hair dryer and is converted into kinrtic energy as a smallelectric motor spins a fan blade. Electrical enrgy is also converted into thermal energy in a grid of wires that heat up. The fan forces air across the hot wires , and hot air blows out of the nozzle of the hair dryer. You can hear the sound energy that comes out. In other words in is converted from Electrical energy -to- Kinetic energy and, Electrical energy -to- Thermal energy and, last but not least, Sound energy!

What powers a wind turbine?

The wind turbine converts kinetic energy into wind, which then turns into wind and then mechanical energy. The energy is converted to an electrical generator through a shaft which turns it into electrical energy, or in other words, electricity.

How does friction affect perpetual motion machines?

IN SIMPLE WORDS: Friction turns mechanical energy into heat energy which causes a loss in mechanical energy and loss in possibility to continue motion..

Laws of conservation of energy and briefly explain?

The law of conservation of energy basically states that you can't create energy out of nothing. You also can't destroy energy. Energy is a quantity that remains constant, in a closed system (one that has no contact with the outside world). The law of conservation of energy is also called the First Law of Thermodynamics. You can, however, convert useful energy into useless (or unusable) energy - and this can no longer be converted back to useful energy - in other words, there are irreversible processes in nature. This is the Second Law of Thermodynamics. The law of conservation of energy basically states that you can't create energy out of nothing. You also can't destroy energy. Can energy create energy?

The Law of Conservation of Energy states that 'Energy cannot be created or destroyed.' In other words, energy can be converted into matter and vice verse, but energy cannot create energy. Thanks much ^_^ Edit: Seems you are missing a part of the law, namley "only transformed". In any case, how would you explain that solar panels convert sunlight into a electrical enegy, without creating matter?

Can energy be destoyed?

No. However, you can (and will) convert high-value energy to low-value energy. In other words, energy gets "used up" in the sense that it gets converted into a form that is no longer useful.

What amount of energy dreseases?

Total energy is always conserved. However, it is possible to convert one type of energy to another. With some limitations, you can usually convert many types of energy to many other types. Whenever this happens, the amount of one type of energy decreases, while the amount of another energy increases. For example: if an object falls down, its potential energy decreases; its kinetic energy increases. Once it crashes to the floor, its kinetic energy is converted into heat - in other words, kinetic energy decreases, while heat energy increases.
