How can it be the same day in the US as in Malaysia?

They are in different time zones, but that means for some part of the day, they are in the same calendar day. Malaysia will start a new day before any part of the United States does, at which time Malaysia will be in the next calendar day, but the United States will enter that day too, much later. It is only places in the exact same time zone that are in the same day all of the time. For anywhere else, one place will reach the new day before another does, but they will all eventually be on the same day. So Malaysia and the United States do spend some time in the same calendar day.
