Because composer's can play on our emotions and make us 'feel' any number of ways--nostalgic, emotional, excited, tender,nervous, concerned, etc. The music in ads is meant to 'get to you' and therefore, make you feel sympathetic to whatever they are selling. And then you( are supposed to ) buy their products.
