Generally, all you have to do is drill a hole in the right place and screw in the knob - screw on the inside, cabinet knob on the outside. The tip of the screw goes through the cabinet door or drawer and into the hole at the base of the knob.
The tricky part is usually finding the right place on the cabinet door or drawer. For that, take some measurements - preferably several times, since messing this up will give you a rather ugly hole in the wrong place of the cabinet. Mark the spot with a pen or pencil and drill that hole, which should be narrower than the screw is thick.

∙ 14y agoIt is a pretty simple operation just layout and a drill bit that is just bigger than the shaft of the connecting screw. I usually put blue tape on the cabinet door to mark out the holes and use a punch to make an indent so the drill bit does not "walk". On double hole handles measure the centers of the holes from the back of the hardware and mark them on the face of the tape and measure from the edge to make sure they are even. It is best to call a professional if you are unsure because replacing a cabinet door could be significantly more expensive than hiring someone in the beginning.
