Although most people submit a site name rather than a URL, you'll find that putting the URL on Google will provide you with lots of information on the site reached by that URL. For example, you can find not only the main site, but also the Alexa ranking, any YouTube videos, and other sites that may publish articles from that URL.

How does one submit their site to Google?

To submit your site to Google and ensure it gets indexed and displayed in search results, follow these steps: Verify your website: Google provides various methods for website verification, such as adding an HTML file to your website's root directory, adding a meta tag to your website's HTML code, or using DNS verification. Follow the instructions provided by Google for your chosen verification method to verify your website. Submit your sitemap: A sitemap is a file that lists all the pages on your website and helps search engines understand its structure. Generate a sitemap for your website using a sitemap generator tool or a plugin if you're using a content management system (CMS) like WordPress. Once you have the sitemap file (typically in XML format), go to your Google Search Console account, select your website property, and navigate to the "Sitemaps" section. Add the URL of your sitemap and submit it. Monitor indexing status: After submitting your sitemap, Google will start crawling and indexing your website's pages. Monitor the indexing status and any potential issues reported in the "Coverage" section of your Search Console account. Fix any errors or warnings to ensure proper indexing. Fetch and render: In the Search Console, use the "URL Inspection" tool to fetch and render specific pages of your website. This helps Google to understand the content and structure of those pages better. Monitor search performance: Utilize the Search Console's "Performance" section to analyze how your website performs in Google search results. Monitor search queries, impressions, clicks, and average position to gain insights into your website's visibility and identify areas for improvement.
