One can turn off Windows Vista updates by going to their Start button and finding their Control Panel. After locating the Control Panel, one can go to the System tab. At the interface for the System, one can go to the "See also" area to look for the Windows Update settings information and change the settings for the updates in Vista.
Stop the "Automatic updates" service.
From the Start Menu, select All Programs, then Windows Update. From the left pane of the 'Windows Update' window, click on 'Change Settings.' Select the appropriate option from the list (e.g. 'Never check for updates (not recommended)' to disable automatic updating), then click on OK at the bottom.
To disable automatic Adobe updates in Windows 8, one must first access the folder in their computer in which the Adobe program is stored (where exactly depends on each person's computer organization). From there, click on it and change the settings to automatic updates off.

XP themes are incompatible with Windows Vista. dno
When i try to shutdown my Windows Vista Ultimate, it doesn't shut down! it just restarts! I just installed my Vista and it is updated and everything. To turn it off i have to manually do it with the switch! CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP?!?
This question only applies to a Windows PC. To turn off your Windows PC, click the start button on you taskbar. Then, Move your mouse over to the button that says shutdown, or if there is an arrow (in Windows Vista and 7) click on that and then click shutdown. Your computer will then close all your programs and then shutdown!
I have it installed on a Vista 64 Home premium system and it works only when I turn off User Account Control off in vista. With UAC on in vista it prevents Money 2001 from loading and running Even with running Money with administrative rights and or in older windows version compatibility mode seems to make no difference. I have to just turn of Vista's UAC, which could leave your system "more" open to hackers and such.
The only time Windows Vista automatically closes programs is when it is performing a system restart after an update. You can stop this from happening by turning off automatic updates. Sometimes, a program may stop responding and you can choose to wait for the issue to rectify itself or close the program down manually.
