It varies by species, but, No one really knows. Without growth studies that are accurate, we have no way to accurately estimate the minimum years required by them to achieve the total lengths we have actually recorded. We know they can live for possibly decades.

Sharks can die of many different reasons like, Age, poison, polution, finning which causes them to drown and die, even being hunted.
