How do dynamos work?

Mechanical energy is changed into electrical energy in case of dynamo. When a coil of wire is rotated in the vicinity of magnetic field then magnetic flux will be cut. This would cause an induced emf in the coil and this phenomenon is known as electromagnetic induction.AnswerThe movement of another body is transmitted to a rectangular coil of wire that is inside a U-Shaped magnet. The motion of this coil of wire cuts the magnetic flux in the magnet. Faraday once stated that-Whenever there is a change in magnetic flux linked with a circuit there is an induced current and the strength of this induced current is directly proportional to the rate of magnetic flux-. So according to this rule when the magnet is in motion it is constantly cutting the magnetic flux, and as it does this there is a current that is induced (eddy currents). However a dynamo can either be A.C or D.C according to the brushes and number of commutators used (Flemings Right-hand rule). If we refer back to Faraday's rule it says that the strength of this induced current is directly proportional to the rate of magnetic flux. This rule can be seen practically in a bicycle that has a dynamo. The faster the rider rides the faster the change in magnetic flux and hence the brighter the light Dynamo is just the opposite/ reverse action of motor operation. When a conductor is moved across a magnetic field, there induces an emf (voltage) across conductor terminals so as it opposes the change of flux (Lenz rule).Dynamo is constructed with a cylindrical permanent magnet (which rotates at the center) amidst windings that we take the voltage output from. when the magnet rotates its flux path changes relative to the windings and across the winding there exists an electro-motive-force as a voltage..You know, the one about a coil of wire, with a changing magnetic field inside of it, with the induced voltage proportional to the number of turns of the coil, and also proportional to the rate of change of the magnetic flux through the coil.

What to do in a forest fire?

If you're advised to evacuate then do so immediately. Wear protective clothing. Choose a safe route away from fire hazards. Watch for changes in the speed and direction of fire and smoke.

What happens to temperature as you travel from equator to the north pole?

No. The South Pole is colder than the North Pole. this is because the South Pole sits amidst the large ice and land mass known as the Antarctic, whilst the North Pole is merely a floating ice shelf, and therefore several degrees warmer throughout the seasons.

How old is the earth according to Biblical creationists?

The Mathematical Tabulation concerning the Year of "Adam's Creation" according to the Account of "Moses" (contained in the First Five Books of the Old Testament) is Absolute: 4004 - 4000 BC---Old Testament Study Manual Vol. 1 Latter Day Saint EditionThis Calculation coincides with Bishop James Ussher (1581 - 1656).His Result: 4004 BCNote that this Conclusion Occurred During the Renaissance Era & thus, itself, was amidst MANY Forward Thinking Queries. The First Latter Day Saint Leader, Joseph Smith, also agreed with the Chronology of Moses & went further a step to Calculate the Age of the Universe according to his Understanding:And the Following Document agrees, from a "Christian" Perspective, by adding: "Today there are many Christians who accept the Reliability of Geologic Dating, but do not compromise the spiritual and historical inerrancy of God's word."To this, I would like to add: If God's Word were Truly "Inerrant"-- Moses, as a repeater of "God's Words" would have therefore been "Inerrant", and Bishop Ussher's Chronology of Creation, based on his Calculations on the "Word of God through Moses", would have been Held as Admissible Fact in a Court Decision. In Short, the Stories of ANY Religion are based in Myths cultivated by 200,000 years of Human History, which is Concluded upon in a More Accurate Manner in Scientific Articles.

How can you tell the relative age of a sedimentary rock?

This an area of common misconception. Most sedimentary rock, and the fossils contained therein cannot be dated directly with radiometric techniques, but can be dated indirectly. Here's the facts:Because most sedimentary rock is composed of particles of pre-existing rock of various types, each particle can be a different age.Carbon-14 or carbon dating techniques can only be used to date organic material which is of a maximum age of 70,000 years; this leaves out the vast majority of fossils found in rock, and only covering roughly .000016 percent of geologic time. The dating of fossils was originally done by their placement in a geologic column of rock strata. Because of the Law of Superposition, the deeper the stratum, the older it is (in an undisturbed body of rock or sediment). Fossils which were evident in a particular stratum, but missing from other strata were noted as "index" fossils. The presence of these fossils indicated the age of the stratum relative to other layers. The layers of stratum were placed in a geologic column, subdivided, and assigned names based on the presence of different types of fossil organisms. The use of fossils in this manner is known as biostratigraphy and is the basis of "relative dating" of rock layers and fossils, a dating technique that was in effect until the advent of radiometric techniques in the twentieth century.Radiometric dating of rock involves the measurement of the amount of decay in radioactive elements which are present in the rock. Radioactive elements decay at unique rates, depending on the isotope. This rate of decay is known as half-lives, it is the time necessary for ½ of the atoms to decay in a particular element. The decay follows a geometric scale, in that in the first half-life of an element, ½ of the atoms decay, yet in the second half-life, ½ of those remaining decay and so forth. By measuring this decay, and knowing the half life of an element, scientists can date a sample. Radiometric dating is particularly useful in dating igneous and metamorphic rock.Because of geologic events such as plate tectonics and volcanism, suitable material for radiometric dating, such as volcanic tuff, solidified lava, and igneous intrusions have been found as layers on, in, and cut through layers of sedimentary rock. Intrusions are always younger than the rock body they penetrate, meaning that the sedimentary rock in which intrusions are found will be older than a radiometrically dated sample of the intrusion. Lava flows and volcanic ash which form layers in rock will be younger than the rock below and older than the rock above. The solidified intrusions and lava flows can be dated with radiometric techniques. The radiometric dating of suitable rocks (i.e. igneous or metamorphic) in proximity to their sedimentary counterparts, therefore allows the sedimentary rock to be dated as well.
