How can the first US Civil War Battle of Bull Run be compared to the defeat of Hannibal's brother in the Second Punic War?

At the first battle of Bull Run in the US Civil War, Confederate generals Johnston and Beauregard were able to use their interior lines to place a concentrated force in space against the Union army of General McDowell. In the Second Punic War, Hannibal's brother, Hasdrubal, was defeated by the Roman General Nero when Nero also was able to exploit his interior lines and focus a concentration against the surprised Carthage general and force his defeat as Hasbrubal had his back to a river and could not retreat. This battle was a severe loss to Hannibal's war efforts against Rome, and a severe family loss as well.
