Jehovah's Witnesses forbid the 'taking of blood' because in Acts 15:29, Paul states that this should 'not' be done. JWs take literally the whole of The Bible, at face value, and so, for them, this verse forbids them from 'taking' blood.

However, reading the context of this verse throws up the real reason for Paul's comment. Jews were forbidden, on good health grounds if nothing else, from eating meat that had not been drained of blood. However, when Christ came, he expressly said that nothing that goes into a person can defile that person - only what comes out of their mouth (ie slander, anger, lies and so on). Also Peter saw a vision where he was shown all manner of things to eat - some of which were previously forbidden - with the message that all was acceptable in Christ, and the old rules were no more. Thus, some of the Jewish converts in the early Church began to eat pork, undrained meat, shellfish and so on.

In the context of Acts 15, there were many Jews that were converts to Christianity but who, because of habit and certain misgivings, preferred to stick to their old diets. Paul says in this passage that, in order to avoid offending such people, the converted Jews, who now ate pork and blood, were to abstain from these things while visiting them or ministering to them. Thus, they would not cause offence to the new converts. However, this ruling was never, never, ever meant to be a ruling for all Christians for all time - and even if it was it was a ruling that controlled the devouring of blood and blood products and never blood transfusion. This is not only born out in the early Church customs, but also by Christ himself. His command, to 'eat my "flesh" and drink my "blood" ' at the Last Supper would be an alien and horrific concept to the Jew unless the ruling on blood products was relaxed. Despite this, in the jehovah's Witness belief system they are quite content to watch their own loved ones die (even their own children) for the want of a blood transfusion.

Despite what Jehovah's Witnesses claim in that they represent the 'true Church' of early Christianity, nothing is further from the truth. They represent the disgraced Arian doctrines (where Jesus is not classed as divine) that were resurrected by their founder Charles Taize Russell, who had a very warped and confused theological belief. Thus, just as the witnesses' ideas on Christ's atonement are confused, as they regard him as a 'semigod' (whatever that means), and are not in accord with the Christian Church, so are their doctrines on other things, like blood, based on a skewed interpretation of scripture.

Therefore, to answer the question put, the JWs have really no defence when it comes to white cells and placental transfer, simply because their rulings on blood are not only not of God, but simply do not make a great deal of sense.

Jehovah's Witnesses follow bible law. There is a biblical prohibition ONLY against the use of blood. Nothing is said regarding blood fractions. Jehovah's Witnesses therefore refuse transfusions of both whole blood and its primary blood components. (Acts 15:29). When it comes to fractions of any of the primary components Jehovah's Witnesses view it as a personal matter of conscience and each individual must make their own decision.

Some refuse to accept gamma globulin, blood-based clotting factors (even fractions intended to provide temporary passive immunity), and so on, because they are derived from blood which must be collected and processed. Others reason that since certain plasma proteins can pass from one system to another (mother fetoeus immunoglobulin transfer) they could accept a blood fraction derived from blood plasma or cells.

You are white but inherited sickle cell trait because of inter racial marriages in the family If you get a transfusion from someone with the trait can you have children with sickle disease?

Well, you can´t be white if you have interracial marriages in your ancestors, so the questions is quite illogical. But anyways a blood transfusion doesn´t have anything to do with what your children will inherit from your genes... for example, if you are a AB+ and receives a O- blood transfusion, it´ll have nothing to do with your future children, it´s impossible to a AB+ to conceive a O- child, and vice-versa.

Do Jehovah Witness children die from not getting a blood transfusion?

Yes children, have died from NOT getting a blood transfusion because, of what Jehovah Witnesses said. The children have died from blood infections, car crashes, fights, and even cancer and NEVER had gotten a blood transfusion. These children could have been ALIVE because of blood transfusions, and NOT just by bloodless surgery alone! When someone posts a question like this it is ONLY intended to generate an emotional response, by the use of "children". The fact is that "people" rarely die from refusing a transfusion. Of course, anyone can be involved in a serious accident or unplanned life-threatening situation. Jehovah's Witnesses have respect for life and therefore do not engage in high-risk sports, so they are rarely exposed to such a situation. In the rare case where there is profuse blood loss, there is no way to say definitively that a death resulted from a refusal of blood transfusion or that blood or other treatment would have guaranteed life. However, safe alternatives are almost always available. Jehovah's Witnesses have done much to educate the medical profession about the dangers of blood transfusions and they have ALWAYS been protected against serious illness and death by blood-borne infection, blood type errors and other complications. That is why most hospitals today require patients to sign a waiver if they wish to have blood. What we DO know is that many have saved their lives by insisting on alternatives. Mature people know that those who base decisions on emotion only will make poor judgements. well-informed Jehovah's Witnesses trust divine wisdom and feel as Joshua when he said "As for me and my household, we shall serve Jehovah"! (Josh. 24:15). Yes, of course sometimes Witness children and adults die from not getting a blood transfusion. As an example, The Watchtower Society's magazine 'The Awake', issue 22nd May 1994, relates the accounts of five Witness youths who refused blood transfusions and later died, along with about twenty pictures on the front cover of other children who did likewise. It says in the magazine, 'By rejecting blood transfusions that could conceivably have extended his present life, Adrian Yeatts showed himself to be one of the many young people who put God first.' However, the issue for Witnesses is not whether or not children or adults, die or survive from taking or refusing a transfusion. The issue is obedience to the interpretation of the Scripture in Acts 15 'keep abstaining from things sacrificed to idols and from blood' to mean that transfusions of whole blood or its four main components are not allowed.

How can you become mute?

stop talking. You can become mute it is called Selective mutism. It is an anxiety disorder or a person is most likely to be mute due to an traumatic event. This is most likely to happen at a young age. Selective mutism usually co-exists with shyness or (often severe) social anxiety. You can talk but not around specific people and sometimes you can't talk to anyone. Despite the change of name from "elective" to "selective", a common misconception remains that a selectively mute child is defiant or stubborn. In fact, children with SM have a lower rate of oppositional behaviour than their peers in a school setting. Another common belief is that selectively mute children have experienced abuse or trauma, but most professionals who have treated many children with selective mutism currently believe this is not true.
