Why do you sometimes repeat readings three times in science?

Performing a measurement or an experiment three-times is called a triplicate. Triplicate results make statistical analysis better and prevent the possibility of unusual results due to natural/artificial variation.

What is the control group in an experiment?

set up the same way as the experimetal group except the independent variable is absentA control group is identical to the experimental group in every way but it lack the experimental variable. This is the group not being tested on.A control group is a group of specimens on which you do not perform the experiment procedure. The control group therefore tells you how the specimen behaves under "normal" circumstances, and you can compare your other specimens to this control group to study the effects of the experiment. When someone performs an experiment on biological organisms they do something to the organism. Then they need to know if what they did changed the organism in a way that would not have happened had they not performed the experiment. So, they need to compare the group they did something to with a group that nothing was done to. This comparison group that had nothing done to it is called a control group. The control group in an experiment is the group that stays the same and is not changed in any way. Because it is not changed, other variables may be compared to it.For example:You are testing whether temperature has an effect on the breaking point of rubber bands. You take one rubber band and put it in the freezer and another is heated. A third rubber band is left at room temperature. The one left at room temperature is the control. It is the normal result you are comparing your other two results to.You must be sure that the rubber bands are exactly the same in size, width, construction and composition.Controlled experiment means you keep every other variable constant, except for one ( the one being tested). A variable means something that varies, or keep changing. Controlled experiment removes all the possibilities of external influences on the subject. Everything else must remain constant in a controlled experiment, that's how you will able to study it in its true context. To help researchers conclude that results arerelated to the new drug and not to the orange juiceIs the normal/known setting or amount or value that is tested against. That way you can determine change from experiment.

Why are repeated trials important in scientific investigations and what should you do if repeated trials give very different results?

We know that many phenomena are quite variable. The weather is not the same every day. One person does not necessarily act the same way or have the same biological features as another person. Some individuals might be typical of their species, while others might be unusual in some way. So, if you are investigating some particular phenomenon, you want to make sure that the results that you got are normal or representative results, rather than anomalous results. Even aside from the variability of nature, there is also the factor of the imperfection of scientists. Scientists can also be sloppy, and can make mistakes. You might have used the wrong chemical, mislabeled something or misread a label, and so forth. We can never simply assume that any given experiment was done correctly. So, by doing something repeatedly, we can be more confident of the result. We confirm the result by getting it more than once. If, however, we do repeated trials and get different results, that is an interesting observation and it becomes necessary for us as scientists to find out the reason for these varying results. There is something we did not notice, something that is not the same, or something that is more unpredictable than we thought it was. Maybe we thought that all of our mice were the same, but it turns out that we are actually dealing with two different species of mice, and they have significantly different biological traits. Whatever the problem is, we have to track it down and identify it, otherwise we will never be able to understand the results of our experiment.

Is it common to have normal results from a colposcopy and leep procedure after an abnormal pap result?

It would be unusual to have a completely normal result on a colposcopy after a pap result severe enough to warrant a colpo. It is not unusual to have CIN I/mild dysplasia on colpo after a pap. It would be extremely unusual to have a LEEP after a normal biopsy. I suspect that there may have been some misunderstanding or miscommunication regarding your results. Please contact your health care provider to clarify (and get a copy of) your pap results and the results of your coloposcopy and LEEP biopsies.

What is the advantages and disadvantages of reusing?

It is because most likely you are to have a fair test, it is to ensure that the test was fairly done and that your results aren't due to a "one off" or a change in the experiment. For example in an experiment using rats one experimental rat may be different to the other rat like be abnormal or slightly unusual and therefore you would have an unfair test as the two weren't the same. So you wouldn't get a correct measurement or end result.
