Vomiting can protect us from harm because it is a way to get rid of substances that might be harmful to our bodies. An example of this can be alcohol. If someone gets sick from too much alcohol and did not throw up the consequences could be fatal.

When a person vomits it means that the stomach has found a problem such as too much food or a toxic item, therefore attempts to get rid of it. The reflex protects the human body from infections and diseas because the stomach can identify a harmful bacteria in the food and can "vomit" it before it is fully digested so, in a way, protecting you from the full front of the diseas or infection.

What is the importance of reflex arc?

Reflex actions are essential for the body. Her are some common examples and what they're used for; * Shivering: when you're cold, the body will contract its skeletal muscles rapidly. This allows heat to be made, and his heat warms the body temporarily. * Gagging: If something goes dangerously close to the back of the throat, the gag reflex will make the person sick. The vomit should then move the foreign object away from the back of the throat. * Moving away rapidly: If we touch something dangerously hot, e.g. a hot metal pan, the body moves the hand away from the pan as fast as possible in order to avoid any further injury. There are loads of others, but I hope this answers your question.

Does vomit clean your body?

Vomiting is a natural reflex triggered by the ingestion of toxins. This reflex is an important one to ensure that recognized toxins are expelled from the body before they enter the bloodstream and circulate to peripheral organs where they may incur greater damage. In this sense, vomiting is an important mechanism not to "cleanse" the body, but to ensure it doesn't "get dirty". In addition to the natural vomiting reflex, we can initiate vomiting in other circumstances. Individuals with eating disorders, for example, may induce vomiting to stay thin. In this sense, vomiting is not at all protective. In fact, if vomiting is induced frequently for a sustained amount of time, it can severely damage the individual.
