Bacillus thuriengensis, horticultural oils, insecticidal soaps, natural enemies, pruning, row covers, and sanitation are ways to control worms on basil. The worms most typically may be beet beet armyworms, cabbage loopers, cutworms, or leafhoppers. Natural predators will range from birds to lacewings and parasitic flies or wasps.
get rid of the grass and put cement instead or use poisoning.
Yes, cutworms can eat basil. These larvae are known to feed on a variety of young plants, including herbs like basil, especially when they are in the seedling stage. They typically cut through the stems at the soil line, causing the plants to wilt and die. To protect basil from cutworms, using barriers like collars or applying organic pest control methods can be effective.
Pecan worms can be controlled by applying trichogramma wasps which are quite good in checking pecan case-bearers. Application of certain chemicals may also help.
No, just once it's not rotten, it can be eaten safely without cooking and stored at room temperture
The caterpillar that commonly eats basil is the larval stage of the tobacco hornworm (Manduca sexta) or the tomato hornworm (Manduca quinquemaculata). These caterpillars are known to feed on various plants in the nightshade family, including basil, tomatoes, and peppers. Their feeding can cause significant damage to the leaves, stems, and overall health of the basil plant. If you find these caterpillars, they can often be removed by hand or controlled with organic pest management strategies.

I am struggling with the same problem. So far I am resorting to carefully inspecting my plants (indoors in pots since it is November in Ohio) each day, but have found the worms very difficult to see, even when large. This morning I gave the plant a vigorous shake and 2 worms fell out, so I plan on shaking every day. Does anyone know if the worms are hatching from the soil? Next I plan on scraping out the top layer of soil and replacing.
