How can yau tell if your vw engine is a 6volt or a 12volt?

well with my old 6volt bug when i had the headlights on and i accelerated the headlights would get brighter. or when i had the windshield wipers going and i accelerated they would go faster. i don't know if that is true for a VW bus.
also if you have it you can use a voltage meter and test it.
also try your VIN number if its still on there. you can use to tell you the year, engine size and the voltage for that year and make.
