Avoid people who are disrespectful to their parents or other authority figures. Avoid "mean" people who get their kicks from causing hurt or pain to others. Do find people who take their school work seriously enough to at least try. They don't necessarily have to be the best or smartest but people at least making an effort to fit in to society. Pick people with similar interests to your own. I think people who respect other people are probably the best friends. People that like to pick on others will someday turn on you.
