Cecilia had a life devoted to prayer and helping the less fortunate. Her husband and his brother, both of them converts to Christianity, developed a mission to provide a proper burial to those martyred for their faith. They were arrested for this and killed. When Cecilia recovered their bodies and buried them, she, too, was arrested. She WA ordered to sacrifice to pagan gods or she, too, would be killed. She refused to renounce her Christian faith so was locked in a hot sauna for three days in an attempt to suffocate her. She survived. Next the soldiers tried three times (the maximum allowable by law) to behead her but again were not successful. However, Cecilia was mortally wounded and died three days later. Before she died she distributed her wealth to the poor and arranged for her home to become a church.
Those are big shoes to fill to be like Cecilia. However, you can imitate her by spending some time in prayer and devoting part of your life to helping the less fortunate.
