Besides a ovulation test, the other ways that you can tell you are ovulating is by taking your BBT (Basal Body Temprature) first thing in the morning with a digital or BBT thermometer, checking your cervical mucus for changes..When you are ovulating you usually have watery to eggwhite cervical mucus, and last but not least checking your cervix. If it is soft, high, open, wet..SHOW..that is a good indication that you are ovulating..

Your body will tell you when you are ovulating. "She" will give you signs, very much like she does before your period... You know P--M--S!! When your body ovulates, your uterus will ripen and began to cramp. This is more or less 2weeks after your last period. You will begin to cramp mildly as if you were mensturating. You will become sexually aroused too (for some women)and your temperature will rise. But as for checking it (physically).. I am not sure. The women of old used this way of knowing when to try and concieve.

There are many ways to Track Ovulation. One way is to use the BBT Method (Basal Body Temperature) Method. This uses your waking body temperature to determine when ovulation has occurred. I placed a link down below with instructions on how to use this method.

The next way is to use Ovulation Predictor Tests. These tests use the LH (Lutenizing Hormone) to determine your surge. Once there is an LH surge, you will generally ovulate within 12 to 36 hours. I placed a link down below with more information on this method.

The next method to determine ovulation is by using a fertility monitor. I prefer this method as it is less confusing for the consumer. I have also placed a link down below to more information on this method.

When is it THE MOST EASIEST to get pregnant?

During ovulation. U can tell this by checking your cervical mucus and cervix position. Ur mucus will go from tacky and pasty to clear and slippery like egg white. You will be able to stretch it between about an inch before it breaks. You have to get this sample from your cervix. While you are there, check ur cervix. Before ovulation it is firm (like ur nose) and hard to reach. The closer to ovulation it will become soft (like your lips) and low.

Would your cervix open before ovulation day?

Yes, it is open during ovulation. A trick to remember is SHOW (soft, high, open, and wet). This way sperm can easily pass through the cervix to the uterus and fallopian tubes. After ovulation it closes again. You must remember that your cerical position changes frequently and it is different for each woman. A good way to see how your cervix reacts is to consistenly check it at different times throughout the months.

You can check your cervix in any position, as long as you can reach it of course. Some people prefer to lay down while checking their cervix as it's more comfortable, but it's easier to reach your cervix by squatting.

Can a cerclage be done if your cervix are closed?

That's the best time to perform the cerclage! When the cervix is open, there is a risk of puncturing the amniotic sac, and of infection. If you are dilated more than 4cm, it usually can't be done at all!

What position should your cervix be after ovulation?

During ovulation the cervix is high, soft and open. After ovulation the cervix is low, firm and closed. It is not as simple as that. In some cases the cervix goes the other way. Mucus production is a more reliable sign."Some of the problems with MI (Manual inspection of the cervix position) were: difficulty with diagnosis, lack of time and space to practice it everyday, anxiety over possible infection and/or pain caused by touching, and ignorance about sexual organs. In timing ovulation, the accuracy rate of the new rhythm method was 87.9% in BBT+CM+MI, 75.9% in BBT+CM, and 51.7% in BBT only. In 85.7% the external uterine orifice raised at ovulation, while in 14.3% it lowered. Average shift in position from the lowest to the highest was 2.4cm-2.5cm. Other aspects of the uterine orifice which can be manually inspected are degree of its aperture and hardness."(Miyazaki F, Katahira K, Narazaki R, Hashimoto K, Hayashi T. )

What does ovulation have to do with pregnancy?

Ovulation is the time when your egg drops through your filopian tubes and can be fertilized by a sperm that enters through your cervix. This egg that drops is only good for about two days. If it isn't fertilized then that's why you have your period, to flush it out naturally.

Is it normal for the cervix to feel spongy and swollen at 3 weeks pregnant?

First of all, no-one would be able to tell if they were only 3 weeks pregnant (this means a week after ovulation!) if your going off your ovulation, then yes it can feel spongy & swollen - the reason for the swelling is, increased blood flow, therefore your cervix would be blue also, which is very normal.
