I am only familiar with GSM technology and AT&T Branded devices. GSM technology requires the use of a sim card. Each sim has 2 PUK codes. You can go to the menu of the phone and look for security settings, it will differ for each manufacture. You must have the default code, it can be found by going to att.com/wireless and then to the device tutorial section, select your phone, getting started, PIN codes. Usually it is 0000 for most devices. You have the option of changing it after that. Make sure you really want to do this. If you forget the correct code and enter 3 incorrect codes your phone will display enter PUK. IF you guess, you will never get it, and 10 tries later you will get PUK blocked or some other error message. a CSR can unlock it for you with a PUK, you can also get this off of the website if you are registered. There are only 2 puk codes and if you use them both up by trying to remember your passcodes, you will end up spending $26.50 for a new sim in a corporate owned retail store, or about $22.00 at wal-mart. Best option, DON"T MESS WITH THE SECURITY CODES.
