You are painting with Foreground color when using Brush tool. You can change Foreground color in few different ways, easiest is to click square with foreground color (square that appears on the top) which is located at bottom of Tools panel on the left side of screen. When foreground color is clicked that will open Color Picker (Foreground Color) dialog where you can change foreground color numerically or simply clicking on color of your choice with left mouse button.
CS4 is version of software, and the name before CS4 is stand name of Software, for example Photoshop CS4 is: software Photoshop and version CS4. You can change hundred of settings at Brushes palette. Window > Brushes or You can reset tool. To reset brushes select Brush from Toolbox then right click on Brush icon on Options Bar (right below File menu) and choose Reset Tool. Resetting tool will reset all brushes to their defaults.
