Basically, you have to reload Windows all over again. There is no known method, afaik, for retrieving a lost general password.
You will need to reinstall the operating system.
Changing a saved password would be based on what Operating System or platform you are changing the saved password on and the method preferred to accomplish the task.
I'm guessing you mean to the Operating System. It is hard to do so. There are some tools, such as John the Ripper that will let you recover a forgotten password. These tools should not be used to hack into someone else's computer.
Basically it may not be the security system, it's just the password in general that you need to think about. A bad password would include easily guessed, easily forgotten and one password for various sites. Also change you passwords often.
Awful question = Stupid answer! What password have you lost - access to your operating system (If so... what operating system are you using?), encrypted volumes, bios password, hard drive password, MBR?
If you have forgotten the password to your account, you can reset it at the My Account Password Reset system. A link to it is provided below.
A BIOS password prevents a computer from loading the operating system. A login password is prevents the user from accessing the rest of the operating system such as their programs, internet etc.
