Most banks now have free internet banking, and telephone banking. This would require you to fill out a form with your info and a username and password then in a couple weeks you would be able to check your acct balances, transaction history, pending transactions and so much more on internet or telephone banking.

Most banks have an online website now, so you can just enter your details (or apply - best to call and confirm) and have a look. Alternatively, you can swipe your card at an ATM branch and check your balance, although some ATM branches may charge you a small fee for this.

If you phone or pop in to the store or bank, they should be able to tell you. And sometimes they send out a regular letter letting you know your balance.
