Is replacing bonded tooth with a crown necessary to prevent root canal?

Is replacing bonded tooth with a crown necessary to prevent root canal?

How can you tell if a tooth has gone bad under a crown that has a root canal?

If a tooth has a root canal filling you will not be able to know because the main factors of a tooth that has gone bad is sensitive to hot and cold or tender when putting any pressure on the tooth but if it has a root canal it is slightly different because the nerve is removed so you cant feel it. The tooth if it has a root canal will always go dark as the tooth is dead but this does not mean it is bad. The main sign of a bad tooth that has had root canal is an abscess under the tooth so if you feel pain when lying down that is keeping you awake at night or when leaning forward it really hurts then you have an abscess and that tooth will most probably have to be re-root canalled by a specialist or extracted! :)

Can a tooth that has a crown but no root canal hurt if the crown falls off?

What does it mean if you had an abscessed tooth got a root canal and the abscess seems to be coming back?

A dentist, specifically yours, would probably suggest removal of the tooth - especially if the abscess has come back.

How can you cure tooth abscess?

An abscessed tooth can be treated with a root canal and a crown, or with an apicoectomy (if the root canal has failed) or with an extraction. Only your dentist can tell you which option is best for your individual situation.

What is the function of root canal?

Remove the abscess composed of dead rotting dental pulp and bacteria, insert a metal reinforcing pin and gutta percha packing to fill the resulting void (so the tooth won't collapse) and finally put on a crown to replace the chewing surface that had to be removed to get to the abscess.

Do you need a crown after nerve removal?

After a root canal has been performed, the tooth will often become brittle and weak. This may lead to the tooth fracturing under normal stress. Depending on how the tooth fractures, it may not be possible to restore the tooth with a crown at that point. The tooth then will probably require extraction. Consider a crown a kind of insurance policy on the root canal.

Can you have a root canal on a tooth that already has a crown?

NO, The dentist will remove nearly all of the tooth and leave a little peg of tooth around the nerve. The crown will then be fitted onto the peg that is left. This means that you will have all the feeling within the crown that you would have had with your real tooth.

What is the difference between a dental post and dental build up?

A dental post is necessary when a root canal procedure has been done on a tooth that requires a crown. A build up is done on a tooth that needs a crown and has not had a root canal.

What is a crown build up?

A crown build up is done when a person's tooth needs a crown. Usually cause my a large filling breaking or a tooth is broken. Once a tooth is more filling then natural tooth they usually want to put a crown on it. The tooth needs to have a solid foundation in order to support a crown, therefore they have to use special material in order to build the tooth up and prepare it for a crown. Also after any root canal, the dentist will want to put a build up in as teeth become very week after a root canal.. This ensure that the tooth is strong enough to support a crown.. Hope this helps

What happens when your tooth rots underneath a crown?

The decay starts to grow and spread into the denten which is where the nerve is located causing one to then need a root canal. If the tooth can be saved a root canal is done, the tooth is built up and a new crown is placed over the tooth. if the tooth cannot be saved then it is extracted and replaced by a bridge, implant or a partial
