I want to use a fairly good laptop to play games but it is not powerful to play some of the games. I was thinking i could make my home computer a server of some sort and use its processing power to process the games and it could send the information to the laptop in video form. Any suggestions?
Unless the game is designed to allow activity display on a device other than the execution device, you are out of luck. Manu Unix/Linux utilities and some games written for an X windows system are able to designate that the display occur on a different device (that has an X windows server) by using the "-display" or "--display" option to indicate where the visuaol output should be. The windows platform does not support this.
A possible alternative is using a program like VNC to echo your desktop display on your notebook. You would use a VNC client on your notebook to connect to a VNC server on the desktop game machine and play it remotely. Depending on the internet speed, there may be a time delay between your action and the displayed result, that probably will happen no matter what method you use to work remotely. You may also have to modify your router firewall to allow the connection from the VNC client to the VNC server.
