It depends on which way your car is sliding. If your car's back end slides to the right, you'll want to turn your steering wheel to the right. Same basic principle the other way. Car slides left, turn your wheel left. Eventually it should straighten out so you can regain control of the car.
Usually it means traction control on/off. After pressing the button, usually a dashboard light will illuminate, and traction control will then be enabled or disabled.

Rolling wheels have more traction than sliding wheels. Thus you have more control. To illustrate; If you were in a turn and either locked the brakes or accelerated too fast the rear wheels loose traction and the rear of the car starts to pass the front of the car.
The ABS wheel sensor sends a signal that the car might be in trouble. If the car is sliding or feels like it might spin out of control, the brakes are automatically cut on.Ê
Sliding on and off of your seat when you get in and out of the car creates static electricity.
Sliding Window Stop and Wait
Take your foot off the gas and brake pedal, let the steering wheel go. Don't try to stop or steer until the car is done sliding, then recover control.... then change your underwear.
Slippery conditions ahead.
