Depends on where you're starting from. A drop bar road bike can be made a bit more user friendly by switching to a flat handlebar, and some slightly wider tires. Do note that you may end up having to get new shifters/brake levers to go on the flat bar.
Also note that not all road bikes are able to use wider tires, Check fork crown and chain stays for clearance.
If you're starting off with a MTB, start by replacing knobby tires with narrow, smooth ones. Next step is suspension. If you have a sus fork, replace it with a rigid one.
If your bike is full sus, sell it and buy a hybrid instead.
You can purchase a hybrid bike online from the retailer Bike Line. You can also find hybrid bikes for sale on sites such as Amazon, Craigslist and Ebay.
A Schwin Range Searcher a bicycle. It is a hybrid or cross style bike. It's a regular Boys bike. Not a cross or hybrid.

The essential features of a hybrid bike are a combination of features seen in regular bikes as well as mountain bikes. You have changing gears as well as easy to adjust chains.

There are not any hybrid bikes yet. Mechanical engineers are hard at work trying to develop this but it is difficult to create a hybrid bike suitable for the general public.
The Taga bike is a hybrid style bicycle invented in Europe. The bike was designed for families with children and has an incredibly unique design. The child bike seat is located at the front of the bike, facing forward, and is located right between the handlebars - so your child is close to you at all times. The Taga can be used as a bicycle or, when you reach your destination, can be flipped into a stroller for pushing instead. It's lightweight, easy to ride, easy to convert, and provides hours of fun for the entire family!
The miles are the same be it car, bike, truck or scooter.

having been a beginner my self a couplke of years ago I would recommend you get your cycling legs with hybrid bike and once comfortble then get a racing bike a hybrid has a more up right stance and will hurt your bum less but is a good investment if you go for a Specialized FX series or Trek after you can do some distances regularly you will knoe what you want out of a bike
