I have met Narcissists and can offer a suggestion on this one. If you suspect you are one, then you probably are not one, but just in case you do have the tendencies, I would urge you to seek counseling and evaluation. I'm assuming a small number of these people can learn new ways of relating and perceiving, through repeating some techniques given by trained therapists. I'd like to suggest that if you are a narcissist and it bothers you, you are far better off than most of them, since they rarely admit to having the problem. I think if you are recognizing the tendencies, you are closer to stopping yourself from staying in the narcissistic role. Just some thoughts.

∙ 17y agoIf you don't have a psychiatric degree then it's simply "arm chair psychology" and no one should try putting a label on another person. The word "narcissist" has been battered around on this board too often, when the person could be suffering from anything from depression, alcohol, drug abuse, etc.

In turn say "i'm not as selfish as he/she is so that makes me above him/her). It's incredible and shocking the way people with this disorder think. It takes a lot of research to understand a narcissist.

depending on if your the narcissist or just someone around the narcissist..... if you are the narcissist dont worry it wont effect you. You will just continue on with your selfish ways and use people for what they can do for you. If your someone around the narcissist..... RUN- get out while you can. The only way to really survive is to not have them in your life

They don't "turn into" a destructive narcissist... they just drop the "nice guy" facade they used to lure you in.
