Swimming is not a requirement to join the Navy. You will be required to take some training classes that include drown proofing and try to teach you to swim. It would be a good idea to learn!

To enlist in the navy, you don't necessarily need to know how to swim at the time of joining. However, you will be required to pass a swim test during basic training.
