We are building a Q&A knowledge database. If a question is answered within 2 minutes or 2 weeks makes no difference. We are providing the answer for all of those who have that quandary in the future. Other Q&A sites expire their questions. What then happens? The questions gets asked another way and time is wasted answering the same questions over and over again. On WA we can merge these questions into already-answered questions which saves lots of wasted effort. The alternate wording concept is a strength of WA. As more and more different wordings are asked question volume will naturally start to ease up as people start to arrive at pre-answered questions more and more. That is the potential WA holds as the ultimate source for instant answers. Someone who has the answer may turn up anytime.
______________________________________________________________ WikiAnswers is designed to provide a specific answer to a specific question. * Questions that do not contain enough informationcannot be answered - asking "did he die?" or "how did she become rich?" cannot be answered because we do not know who you are asking the question about. * General questions usually cannot be answered because it would take an entire website or a textbook to do that - questions such as "Explain biology" or "What are the names of all cars ever made?" are too broad to be answered. * Questions that require us to look at a picture or diagram that you have in front of you cannot be answered because we cannot see your assignment page. * Questions that must be answered with the questioners opinion cannot be answered by anyone except you - job application questions such as "Why do you feel you should work for this company?" or "Where do you hope to be in five years?" cannot be answered by another person. * Partial questions or question fragments cannot be answered - a sentence fragment such as "preparation for a position" or "pi plus" do not explain what your question is, and cannot be answered. * Questions that are actually statements cannot be answered because they are not questions. "You are in love with a boy and he does not know you exist" is not a question and cannot be answered. * Questions that should be asked in a chat roomcannot be answered because this is not a chat room. "Who are you?" or "What is your favorite color?" are not questions that can be answered on this website. The WikiAnswers Stylebook will help you write a proper question that can be answered for you. See related links below. Tip: Don't use pronouns such as he, she, it, them, their, his, her, its, and so forth in your question. Chances are, we won't know who she, he, them, and what it is and won't be able to answer your question. You must indicate the subject properly in your question. However, questions in which the subject is already indicated within it, may use those pronouns, ex: "When Miley Cyrus starred on Hannah Montana, how old was she?" is okay. If you believe that your question should not have been placed into this catch-all question, please contact a supervisor. A list is linked below under Related Links.
Yes there will be an answer, provided you have asked a good question with enough information for someone to understand what you are asking. When your question will actually get answered is something else though, some questions already have an answer and it will pop up immediately others may be answered within just a few minutes, some could take much longer but our aim is to answer all the questions eventually.
