No. However, when you defeat a grotto boss, the quality of the map you get is partly dependent on the highest level you have in any vocation.
if you are talking about treasure maps, they are used to find treasure...
you don't really need to DO anything. there are post-game quests, both normal and DQVC, to complete. you can use your new mode of transportation, acquired in quest 039, which is a normal quest to explore new areas of the world. there are also treasure maps that you can explore. have fun.
you get the maps for the treasures so get the maps and if you find any treasure press y if you have the map
You find them at the end of Legacy Boss maps. The maps are given as quest rewards, but for some you have to level up one Legacy boss to a certain point, before another boss' map becomes available as a reward from them. For example, completing quest #62 gives you the Baramos map. Starting from Lv16 onwards, Baramos has an increasing %age change of dropping Murdaw's Map.
Well when you beat the final boss for the main story (Corvus) the story still continues until you have beaten every boss in the grotto's using your treasure maps. I don't know what happens after that though. You get your first treasure map from Christopher Collapsus by completing quest 15, Collapsus's Call. To complete it, give him some special medicine which you can find or make using the Crak Pot in the Quester Rester (the inn in Stornway run by Erinn) the recipe is strong medicine x2
non of your bees wax!
You find treasure maps by helping people with carts who are usually being attacked by bandits, help them and they will give you a map. When you have this map, search for the treasure chests
On treasure maps the X marks the location of the buried treasure!
Grotto maps are randomly named and placed, no one can ever tell you where the grotto is by just name alone.
You just have to keep completing grottoes and getting new maps. There is no way ever to force or predict a certain map to come along, the only way is to keep going. You will need a lava map of around level 70+ before you will start seeing Tantamount enemies.
