Start with doing a visual looking for disconnected vacuum lines and listen for a suction noise. With the engine running you can use a spray bottle with water and spray around the upper area of the engine, if and when you hit a vacuum leak you will hear the engine rpm's change.
whats the first step on repairing my 1993 Toyota truck 22re with a high idling problem thanks Brian
I have the same problem. I believe the idle air control valve either needs to be cleaned or replaced.
2004 chevy cavalier is idling to high
idling too fast - adjust choke
Well, a transmission itself does not idle...the engine does. A vacuum leak in the engine will cause faster idling or slower idling depending on where the leak is. Newer transmissions do not use vacuum at all for their operation. Older vehicles used vacuum to help with the shifting of gears-automatic transmissions.
Timing to high / advanced to far. Idling to fast. This can cause that problem.
Vacuum leak.
clean your injectors.
Throttle plate stuck?
Idling too high?
