If you click on start, then click on Run, (Or if you have Vista's Search Bar, search for dxdiag) Then click on dxdiag, a window pop-up should appear with some tabs. Click on ''Display'' on the tabs, then where it says DDI Version, it should say your level.

You just have to find out if its a PCI, AGP or PCI-E slot graphics card, go to the store, buy one that matches your slot type. If your graphics card is intergrated you can download a program called Everest home edition and find out what slot it is.
A processor of a computer does not interfere or limit to which kind of graphics card you can add.
