You should try turning off all electronics including the TV because bright screens are show to keep you up longer. Then try closing your eyes and imagine something boring that you could fall asleep to. If this doesn't work try downloading ocean sound or rain or the forest. Hope this helps

Although loss of sleep is a normal occurrence, it can become serious when several days have passed and no rest has been had. For those that find themselves victims of insomnia, there are steps that can be taken to ensure a full night’s rest.

1. For a person who is already wound up and unable to relax, a room full of light is not exactly an ideal location for sleep. In order for an insomniac to avoid further stimulation, all lights in the room must be turned off. If there is a window, it should be covered as best as possible; a blanket or curtain would suffice. This is also helpful for tricking the body into believing that it is nighttime, even if a person is trying to sleep in the afternoon.

2. On top of lack of light, any electrical devices, such as a television, should be turned off. Watching television forces the brain to think and remain active. Even if the sound is turned off, this can still prove to be a problem. If some kind of noise is an absolute must, relaxing music is recommended by many, and for good reason. New age and Classical Music provide simple melodies that can help regulate a person’s breathing, as well as ease any frustration that the insomniac may be feeling.

3. Anything that contains caffeine, such as coffee, or foods with sugar, should be avoided before going to bed. Although it may be a difficult concept, especially for those who could not live without a nighttime snack, asking friends and family members for assistance with this hurtle can ensure success.

4. If there are any clocks in the area, they should be covered. If one is unable to see what time it is, being aware of how long they have been laying in bed will not be an option. The less time spent stressing over what the clock says, the more likely the person’s nerves will stay controlled.
