Did he cheat on you? Because if he did then you should break up. But if he didn't then try to just forget the whole thing and start from scratch. Then build your relationship from there.

You will know when your over them, you will stop hurting, you will be able to move on and be with someone else without comparing the two, you will be able to forgive them and talk to them without any resentment.
