Salmonella is a bacterial infection, and one of the causes of food poisoning. Salmonella is most often found in improperly processed foods, or on reptiles. To prevent salmonella only eat fully cooked eggs, chicken and turkey and avoid any that are past their expiration date. Be sure to wash hands thoroughly after handling reptiles to prevent infection from them.

Make sure that raw and cooked foods are kept separate. Make sure that all meat is cooked thoroughly. If cooked food is kept, cool it quickly and refrigerate well. If it is reheated makes sure it is piping hot all the wary through.

The best way to reduce the risk of salmonella from eggs is to cook them in some fashion, to wash your hands after cracking or handling uncooked eggs, and to avoid eating anything that contains un-cooked eggs.
