A person can get Windows 7 to manage wireless connections by enabling the wireless network manager under the control panel. Windows will then remember all connections made and automatically connect to them when in range.
because the wireless is broadcasting it's signal, you can turn it off to the outside world in Windows 7, not sure of XP anymore LOL
Many wireless adapters work with Windows 7. If the product does not have an explicit Windows 7 driver, the Vista driver should still work.
There is a tool within windows 7 to manage credentials. Its called windows credential manager.

In windows a Network Interface Card (NIC) can be disabled in the device manager. To get to the device manager click start, then click run, then type "devmgmt.msc" (without the quotes) and press enter (or type it in the "Start Search" box if you use Windows 7 or Windows Vista). It will be under the "Network Adapters" category, the exact name will depend on the model of card you have. Another way to disable it is in the "manage network connections" page from the Network and sharing center in Vista and Windows 7 (disable it in "Network Connections" in Windows XP and Windows 2000). Finally, if it is an integrated network card, it can usually be disabled sing the BIOS (CMOS) setup.
If you have the Fn button on your computer press it while pressing the F2(it should be a tower with signal coming out(if not locate it on the top)) on the button. A box should pop up on your screen saying you disconnected it If you don't have that go to your Wireless Connection on your computer and click disable. You should have a button on your toolbar for it if not go to your control panel then click wireless and internet connections I hope this helps you!
