Get a tape (like a finger cast) go to shoppers to buy some. And wrap it around the wound. Then go to petsmart and ask a hamster specialist to take a look at your hamster. THEN if you want you can give petsmart your phone number, and you can leave your hamster there, in that case they can call you when your hamster can go back home. :) I'm not quite sure because my hamster has never broken her leg but you should be fine good luck :D
If the leg really is painful, take it to the vet.
It is better to take the hamster straight to the vet if any thing else.
Thanks but what if it is dragging its leg ! I think my hamsters leg cracked but always take your pet to the VET! Elizabeth
Hopefully someone will know to wrap it up in first-aid tape THEN, Take the hamster to the vet immediately
The vet said to use a q-tip and splint the leg and feed the hamster lots of protein. White meats. To leave the splint on for 3 days to a week. Just letting a broken leg hang will let it heal so it always hangs.
They can tolerate a lot of pain and it will never allow itself to set if it don't stay still next to the other bone.
if you leave your hamster alone then it will heal by itself. it will take a couple of weeks (3 or 4) if it doesnt heal then then take it to the vet.
Well first, if you live in a city, your vet can probably help you. But you can also do some things to help. For example, take out ANYTHING that it would try to play on or with. (Hamster wheel, etc.) Because when my hamster broke its hind leg it would still hurt itself by trying to play on the hamster wheel....Hope I helped:)
yes, you can make a splint out of masking tape, however i don't recommend doing it yourself. take your hamster to the vet to be healed.
talk to the vet about hamster care.
if you mean healing a wound or a illness the best option is to take it to the vet
you might be able to, but it would be very hard, seeing as their bones are very small.
i would recommend going to the vet.
It would be cruel to try to do it yourself
Her back right leg. Ahe isn’t using it and it seems to hurt
If they fall.
Take to the vet.
Depending on the severity of the break. Some hamsters adjust well with a broken limb. As most vets will not treat this in hamsters, or if they do, the bill outweighs the value of the hamster.
Yes, but you need to be careful not to do any further damage.
No, I do not have a broken leg, i had a broken arm but not a broken leg
I believe that this leg lifting activity is just a common issue with Roboviski hamsters because my hamster was presenting the same symptoms. upon a visit to the doctor the leg is not broken. possibly sore feet or legs from much running also it could possibly just be stretching its leg or it could be a genetically inherited trait of the type of hamster. Little is known about these hamsters currently but, I would just say for saving a trip to the vets sake the leg is not broken. Shawna
A hamsters leg shouldn't turn blue. If it does, seek veterinarian attention immediately.
The hypothesis of a broken leg is that you fractured your leg.
broken rib
Broken Leg was created in 2009.
Yeah, its possible.
The hamsters leg may be broken so I suggest you take him to the vets.
